Notice of stolen equipment:

Notice of stolen equipment:

Recently, several thousand dollars worth of Elkhorn fly rods and fly reels were stolen from their retail store in Loveland, CO.  Some of these items are starting to show up on Craig's List and E-Bay. Beginning 1/1/2012, Elkhorn will no longer honor its warranty services to anyone that does not have proof of purchase from an authorized reseller, their website, or their retail store in Loveland, CO.  Many of these items might show up for sale in the Mentor, OH, or Dana Point, CA, areas.  You must be the original owner of legally purchased equipment and have proof of purchase to take advantage of the Elkhorn warranty service.

Should anyone have any information as to the identity of the thieves illegally selling this stolen equipment, Elkhorn would appreciate a tip.  You can contact Brian at 970-227-4707 or email: brian@elkhornflyrodandreel.com

It is a sad day when we have to take these measures, but as often the case, a couple bad apples ruin it for everyone.

Fly Fishing Crazy is an authorized reseller so please keep your proof of purchase, otherwise Elkhorn will have to reject any warranty requests.  You can contact me and I can look you up on my system if you have lost your purchase receipt.

Thank you for your understanding.

Warranty

Warranty

At Elkhorn, their goal remains unsurpassed customer service and 100% customer satisfaction. All Elkhorn rods and reels have a lifetime warranty. Keep in mind: Elkhorn fly rods and fly reels are not sold with an upfront “insurance policy.”  Elkhorn continues to keep their high quality high performance equipment affordable and do not “build in” replacement costs when you purchase the product. If you break it, the repair or replacement cost is fair and minimal. Unconditional free lifetime replacement comes with a catch: You pay dearly for this “insurance” at the time of the purchase, sometimes paying three to four times the cost of what an Elkhorn product costs. Additionally, high priced rod and reel manufacturers charge for warranty service as well. Please keep this in mind should the need arise to use the Elkhorn No Nonsense warranty service.

Their no-nonsense rod guarantee is simple; if the rod gets broken, they will repair or replace a broken section for $42 each, $62 for butt sections. Spey rod sections are $62 each and butt sections are $112 each. These costs include return shipping and insurance.

Elkhorn bamboo rods are covered by a limited lifetime warranty. Bamboo rods are handled on a case by case basis but repairs and/or replacement, if possible, will not exceed $112 per section. In some instances, no replacement parts are available and repairs are not possible. Again, keep this in mind before you purchase an Elkhorn bamboo rod. These high quality beautiful bamboo rods continue to be the most affordable cane rods on the market. However, they do not come with an unconditional “insurance policy.”

If any Elkhorn fly reel has a problem, repairs/rebuilds are handled on a case by case basis, but will not exceed $60 for a complete reel reconstruction or rebuild, and often the only charge is the return shipping and insurance. There is no charge for worn out reel parts. Lost reel parts are sold for a minimal fee or are free. Most problems associated with their reels are due to neglect. Never put a reel away for long term storage, especially in the neoprene reel pouch, when the reel is still wet from use. Minimal maintenance in the form of occasional light lubrication to the internal bearings cannot be overlooked. And when the reels are used in salt water, make certain the reel is thoroughly flushed, rinsed, dried, and lubricated at the end of the day and before long term storage. When we say "flushed," this means submerging the reel in a bath of fresh water and stripping and retrieving line while underwater, then allow the reel to dry. When the reel is dry is a good time to lubricate the bearings. We recommend Tri-Flo teflon aerosol lubricant. Any synthetic aerosol lubricant will suffice. Do not use petroleum based lubricants on the bearings as they tend to attract dirt and other particles. See the “Reel Maintenance” section for more details.

No glitz, no glamour, no slick advertising, no hefty price tag: No Nonsense. So fish hard, you're covered!

The solitude of a trout stream or the calm waters of a lake have a healing power that can't be explained, but also, can't be denied!  Healing our soldiers can be a long process. We help them reconnect with the peace for which they fought so hard!
I am a proud volunteer for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.  The Denver chapter is currently teaching disabled Veterans to tie flies and cast a fly rod.  We now offer rod building classes for veterans.  The flies they tie will be lost or tattered with use, but a fly rod can be be a life long companion in their fly fishing efforts.
Support our Disabled Veterans. We owe them so much more for keeping us safe and protecting our Freedom. Visit ProjectHealingWaters.org today and get involved in your area.
