Not all fishing excursions should be 1 day trips

Camping and fly fishing = vacation... a way to experience the outdoors and take in a more relaxed bonding with nature.  A long day on the stream should not, always, have to end fighting freeway traffic on a long drive home.  To be able to relax with a stream-side meal and maybe a single malt, an aged bourbon, bottle of wine or a few beers and then catch a good night's sleep will rejuvenate you for the next day.  In the morning, you awake to the burbling sound of the stream, the sound of meadow lark, a coyote yipping in the distance or even the mew of a cow elk and her calf.  If you're lucky, your fishing buddy will have gotten up early and will have the coffee brewing and you hear the sizzle of the bacon and eggs over the campfire.
Crawl out of your ComforTrails Tent, refreshed from a comfortable nights sleep on an air mattress and observe the sunrise, take in the beauty of the surrounding mountains and the mist hanging over the water.  Your fly rod, still rigged up and propped against a tree or log from the evening before, is ready to begin a new day on the water. That big brown trout, you missed, has settled down to dining on the insects being washed by and you have a second chance.  Hopefully you have learned from your mistake and your photo op with him is on the day's agenda.

The solitude of a trout stream or the calm waters of a lake have a healing power that can't be explained, but also, can't be denied!  Healing our soldiers can be a long process. We help them reconnect with the peace for which they fought so hard!
I am a proud volunteer for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.  The Denver chapter is currently teaching disabled Veterans to tie flies and cast a fly rod.  We now offer rod building classes for veterans.  The flies they tie will be lost or tattered with use, but a fly rod can be be a life long companion in their fly fishing efforts.
Support our Disabled Veterans. We owe them so much more for keeping us safe and protecting our Freedom. Visit ProjectHealingWaters.org today and get involved in your area.
